Our thoughts dictate our lives. How many times have you heard that statement from spiritual gurus and motivational speakers? I’d be willing to bet probably more times than you can count. But is it really true? Do our positive and negative thoughts have any real impact on our life? Can we control these thoughts to achieve our dreams? This is commonly known as the Law Of Attraction.
To answer these questions, we first must understand what thought is and how it works.
What is Thought?
In short, thought is the process through which we form opinions, make decisions, and construct our own personal reality. Everything we do begin and ends with our thoughts and internal dialogue. Most spiritual teachers will tell you that thought is energy. When we refer to someone who carries a lot of negative energy we are implying that they are the opposite of light. That negative energy, however, stems from the person’s internal dialogue. They cannot exude a negative energy if their thoughts are happy, positive, and powerful. Conversely, we refer to positive people based on their optimistic outlook on life and the energy they bring to our relationship with them.
Therefore, in reality our thoughts hold massive amounts of energy, be it negative or positive.
How Positivity and Negativity Impact our Lives
The way we think has a direct impact on the way that we act and react to situations in our lives. Our decisions are based on our belief in ourselves and our hope for the future. Negativity and Positivity create different outcomes for our life paths by influencing the decisions we make. Whatever we give up our power or energy to expands. When we are negative, or pessimistic, about our decisions or our ability to achieve our dreams that thought expands. This impacts everything that we do. Instead of forging through the hard times to get to the end result, we give up believing that the situation is hopeless. Obviously, this impacts our life path and prevents us from sticking to our decisions even if they were initially positive.
On the other side of the coin, is positive energy. Positive energy empowers us to move past challenges that stand in our way. Our “thought” that we can make it through to the other side motivates us to keep going despite any “negative energy” that is thrown in our path. Positivity isn’t an overly optimistic viewpoint that causes us to live in denial, however. At its core it is simply a belief in our own power, energy, and abilities. Instead of tearing ourselves down, we build ourselves up. Even when everyone around us refuses to acknowledge our talent and strength we stand up and say “I can do this. I will do this. Nothing can stop me.” That kind of power directly impacts the way we live our lives and the energy that we carry.
How Can You Control Your Thoughts?
Let’s face it. The world is not exactly geared towards positivity. The media keeps us focused on the world’s problems, and the day-to-day grind breeds discontent and negative thoughts. However, we have the power to decide whether or not we will cave-in and follow the herd mentality. Even when we make no choice at all we are choosing a path. The reality is each one of us can choose our thoughts. We simply need to become more conscious and aware of them. If you find it difficult to transform your negative thoughts into positive ones, then start by filling your head with positive thoughts from other people. You can do this by reading books about positivity, writing down complements that you’ve been given by other people in the past, and even by building an arsenal of positive mantras. Doing so will help guide you towards a more positive life that materializes positive outcomes.
